Taman Negara State Park was established in Malaysia in 1938 / 1939 as the King George V Nationwide Park. It was renamed to Taman Negara after autonomy, which means "nationwide park " in Malay. Taman Negara has a name as the world's oldest tropical rainforest.

Taman Negara encloses 3 states, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, each with its own legislation. Gunung Tahan is the very highest point of the Malay Cape ; climbers can use Kuala Tahan or Merapoh as their exit point. Taman Negara is the home of some rare mammals , for example the Indochinese Tiger, Crab-eating macaque, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Great Argus, Red Junglefowl, Malayan Gaur ( seladang ) and Asian Elephant.

Among the birdlife, the rare Malayan Peacock-pheasant is still found here in some numbers. Tahan Brook has been saved to offer protection to the Malaysian mahseer ( ikan kelah in Malay ), a sort of game fish. Others attractions found near Kuala Tahan ( Park HQ for Pahang ) include a cover walkway, Gua Telinga ( cavern system ), Lata Berkoh ( fast ). Visitors can enjoy the tropical rainforest, birdwatching or jungle trekking ( e.g. Tenor Rentis ) and the stream perspectives along the Tahan Stream . All visitors to the park must get authorizes from the Department of Wildlife and State Parks. There are lots of hotels and hotels close by.
