Kuala Lumpur is the seat of the Parliament of Malaysia. The city was once home to the executive and legal branches of the government, but they have since moved to Putrajaya beginning in 1999.Some sections of the judiciary remain in the capital. The official residence of the Malaysian King, the Istana Negara, is also situated in Kuala Lumpur. The town is also the cultural and industrial centre of Malaysia due to its location as the capital in addition to being a primate town. Kuala Lumpur is rated as an alpha world town, and is the sole worldwide town in Malaysia, according to the Globalization and World Towns Study Group and Network ( GaWC ). Kuala Lumpur is outlined in the borders of the Fed Territory of Kuala Lumpur and is one of 3 Malaysian Fed Territories.
