It is necessary to book well in advance, especially during school and public holidays when the Malaysians take their holidays in the popular resorts, especially Penang, Langkawi Island and the Genting highlands. Homestay Accommodation Increasing in popularity in many states, Malaysian Homestay Program combine budget accommodation with the opportunity to experience typical Malaysian life. Check with local tourist offices for details of homestay in each area of the country. Rest Houses These are subsidised, moderately priced hotels. They are basic, but always clean and comfortable, with full facilities and usually good restaurants.
